Classical Painting Digital Media
The works are executed adhering to traditional academic painting principles. I've also adapted from the Dutch 7-layer technique for a digital workflow. In doing so, this achieves a look that I feel touches upon the old world with contemporary sensibilities. Essentially each piece is sketched then shaded to a finer detail. Next comes the rough color blocking followed by the detail blocking. The most important stage... blending will then start to bring everything together. Finally an "overlay" stage, analogous to a glazing step in traditional painting, will then bring out additional dimension to the work. I've refrained from using contemporary crutches to uphold a strict set of guidelines to exercise my technique and proficiency.
